The fertilizers such as phosphates and phosphourous and nitrogen cause algal growth.

Eutrophication is a process in which the aquatic environment recieves large amounts of rich nutrients which causes a dense growth of plants in th water body .

Consequences of Eutrophication:

It reduces the oxygen content or the BOD increases . Deterioration of the quality of water. Affects all life forms. It also increases the toxicity of water. Reduces the penetration of sunlight.
