Open in App
Solution

Nitrogen fixing bacteria can be of two types free living and symbiotic. Free living bacteria fix nitrogen in soil while the symbiotic ones provide nitrogen to their host plants and this nitrogen returns to soil only after the death and decomposition of the host plant. Free living nitrogen fixing bacteria include Azotobacter, Beijerinckia, Rhodospirillum, and many cyanobacteria like Nostoc, Anabaena etc.
