name the parts of the green plats which excrete the waste materials?
and
how the excretion process takes place in plants?
Excretion is the elimination of metabolic waste from the body of plants. Various metabolic wastes produced by plants are nitrogenous waste products, tannins, organic acids, resins, gums, etc. Plants do not have any specific mechanisms for collection, transportation and removal of waste products; instead they have developed various mechanisms to protect their living cells from waste products. Some of these are:
1) Old parts of the plant like old leaves and xylem: Waste products are stored in older leaves which will soon fall off and in old xylem. Various resins, tannins and gums are deposited in non functional, old xylem tissues.
2) Bark: It consists of dead cells which are peeled off periodically. Waste products are stored in these cells.
3) Central vacuole: Waste products of living cells are stored inside the central vacuole.
4) Root excretion: some waste products are released by roots.
