Draw a bargraph to represent the above information and answer the followingquestions. (take 1 unit length = 20 thousands)

(a) Which two age groups have same population?

(b) All persons in the age group of 60 and above are called seniorcitizens. How many senior citizens are there in the town?

By takinga scale of 1 unit length = 20 thousands, a bar graph of the abovegiven data can be drawn as follows.

(a) 30 −44 and 45 − 59 are the two age groups which have the samepopulation.

(b) It can be inferred that senior citizens are the people who areeither from age group 60 − 74 or from age group 75 and above.

Hence, number of senior citizens = 80,000 + 40,000

= 1 lakh 20 thousand
