Question

on da basis of electron gas theory . explain da metalic lusture.

Solution

The presence of bright lustre is due to the presence of free mobilized electrons. When light falls on the surface of metals the mobile electrons absorb photon and get excited to higher energy level and oscillate wit the energy of falling radiation. Then they readily lose their energy and falls back to the lower energy level thus becoming the source of emiiting light and giving a shining appearance to the metal surface.
