Question

On dipping the litmus paper in strong acids like sulphuric acid does not burn but the simple paper burns. Why?

Litmus is a water soluble mixture of natural dyes and when absorbed on filter paper can be used as a pH indicator. The paper doesn't paper on contact with strong acids due to the natural dye coating on the paper.
