On what basis do you classify bronsted base on anion?

Open in App
Solution

A Bronsted base is a species capable of accepting a proton, it may be an anion or a compound with a lone pair of electrons.

e.g. OH- , NH3 etc.

NH3 + H2O ⇌ NH4+ + OH-
OH- + H+ → H2O
Here OH- behave as bronsted base as it accept a proton and hydroxide is an anion. So, anion behave as bronsted base.
