The forebrain is responsible for a variety of functions including receiving and processing sensory information, thinking, perceiving, producing and understanding language, and controlling motor function. Based on the functions it does, it is divided into parts.

The forebrain consists of the cerebrum, thalamus, and hypothalamus.

There are two major divisions of forebrain: the diencephalon ( Thalamus & Hypothalamus) and the telencephalon.( cerebrum)

The cerebral cortex is divided into four sections. They are

  • Frontal lobe( Movement, Emotions etc)
  • Parietal lobe( Recognition, Orientation etc)
  • Occipital lobe ( Visual processing)
  • Temporal lobe( Memory and Speech)

  • Thalamus: Sensory and Motor functions.
