Question

One cubic centimeter of a typical cumulus cloud contains 50-500 water drops, which have a typical radius of 10 micro meter. For that range, give the lower higher value for the following. How many cubic meters of water are in a cylindrical cumulus cloud of height 3km radius1km? How many 1L bottles would the water fill? Water has a density of 1000kg/m3 . How much mass does the water in the cloud have ? Do not link it to any other question and give me the final answer to this question only.

Solution

1 cm3 of the cloud has 50-500 water drops. and each drop is 10μm.Volume of one drop = 4/3πr3= 4/3π(10×10-6)3=1.33π×10-15m3The cyclindrical cumulous of the cloud = πr2h= π(1000)2×3= 3 π×106m31 cm3 = (10-2)3= 10-6mNumber of such small glubules that can be formed in a cylinder = 3 π×106/10-6=3 π×1012Now the minimum volume of rain drops in this composition = 50 × 3 π×1012×1.33π×10-15 =1.968 m3Maximum = 500× 3 π×1012×1.33π×10-15 =19.68 m3Now, 1 L = 1m3 So, mimum water bottles that can be stored = 1.96 approx 2and maximum = 20 bottles. The mass of water = Volume * density = 1.968 * 1000 = 1968 kgsand likewise maximum = 19680 kgs.
