Question

how do axonal membrane remain in polarised state?

Open in App
Solution

There are some channel proteins and transporters embedded in the axon membrane that distribute ions or charged particles. This distribution of charged particles causes the membrane to be slightly polarized. Axon will not produce any impulse as long as it is in polarized state.
