The wood of dicotyledons is generally called hard wood.	The wood of gymnosperms is generally called soft wood
The wood is porous and possesses liquefied vessels.	The wood is non porous and vessels are absent.
The wood is hard and comparatively difficult to work with.	The wood is soft and comparatively easy to work with.
The wood has large concentration of fibres.	Tracheids are abundant but the fibres are absent.
