Calorimetry एक विज्ञान है जिसके माध्यम से उष्मा ऊर्जा (heat energy) को मापा जाता है। एक वस्तु जो पहले से ही उच्च तापमान (higher temperature) पर है यदि उसे निम्न तापमान (low temperature) वाली वस्तु के साथ रखा जाता है, तो पहली वस्तु द्वारा उत्सर्जित (emitted) ऊर्जा दूसरी वस्तु द्वारा उतनी ही मात्रा में अवशोषित (absorbed) कर ली जाती है। (ऊष्मा ऊर्जा वातावरण में release नहीं होती है।)
