Solution

During photosynthesis they take in carbon di oxide and release oxygen. During the daytime plants need light to live, in order to be able to produce sugars and carbohydrates as well as oxygen. Plants, at night, during the process of respiration, take in the oxygen and release carbon dioxide. Photosynthesis process, which changes CO2 into O2 to feed themselves, cannot happen at night in the absence of sunlight. So, Plants take in oxygen to respire, live.

Plants are not dependent on animals and animals only dependent on plants and plant products.
