Plants take in only minerals from the soil. But, directly or indirectly, we get vitamins from them too. Do plants make vitamins or get them from somewhere?

Yes, plants and certain microorganism are able to make their own vitamins by using various nutrients from the soil and the environment .Synthesis of vitamins is done by a biochemical pathway. Vitamins are actually organic compounds required by humans and other organisms in small amounts from the diet. Humans are able to make vitamin D by using sunlight and Niacin from an amino acid. The other vitamins which humans are not able to produce are taken from diet or plant sources.
