Question

Q] Define pressure in terms of solids , liquids and gasses ?

Open in App
Solution

Pressure is the force that acts perpendicularly on a unit surface area. To obtain the value of pressure, we should divide the force acting on an object by the area on which it acts. Thus, the value of pressure is:
Pressure = ForceArea

Pressure cannot be defined in terms of solids, liquids and gases. However pressure has an effect that in which state the matter would exist at a particular pressure. Generally the matter tends to exist as solids at high pressures and in gas form at very low pressures.
