Question

Q. Why does boiling point of group 15 increases down the group

Open in App
Solution

Down the group the size of element increases. As the size increases , the vanderwaal forces between the molecules or atom of element increase.
Higher is the magnitude of intermolecular forces , higher would be the amount of energy required to change the state of element.
Hence the lower members of group 15 have higher boiling point.
