In saturated compounds all the carbon atoms are connected by a single covalent bond.
e.g.

In unsaturated compounds the carbon atoms are connected by multiple bonds like double (=) or triple (≡) bonds.
e.g. Ethene CH2= CH2

Ethane CH3-CH3
In unsaturated compounds the carbon atoms are connected by multiple bonds like double (=) or triple (≡) bonds.
