Question

ques:- there are 13 rows in the class from one side laughing gas(N2 O) is passed and from another side weeping gas(C6H11OBr) is passed at which row the students will laugh and weep

Open in App
Solution

R1/R2= m(N2 O)/m(C6H11OBr)

Where R1= rate of diffusion of N2 O

R2= rate of diffusion of C6H11OBr

m(N2 O)= 44 g/mol

m(C6H11OBr)= 176 g/mol

so R1/R2= 2

R1= 2 x R2

So diffusion of gas is twice the rate of diffusion of weeping gas that’s y laughing gas pass 2 rows as weeping gas will cover only one hence the 9th row in the class will receive both laugh and weep .
