Democracy is a rule " of the people", "by the people" and "for the people". In democracy all major decisions of the government are indirectly taken by the citizens of the Nation. Citizens vote and elect a candidate to represent them. The elected representative takes up the responsibility to work for the betterment and welfare of the people who elected him/her. This participation of both the ruler and the ruled in making the political decisions of can serve best to fulfill the socio- economic aims of the Nation.
