Question

Sample A contains one gram molecule of oxygen molecule and sample B contains one mole of oxygen molecule. What is the ratio of the number of molecules in both the samples.

Open in App
Solution

One gram molecule of oxygen molecule means 32g of O2 molecule. This mass of O2 is equal the molar mass of oxygen molecule. We know that the molar mass is the mass of one mole of a substance and is equal to 6.022 X 1023 particles of that substance. So, one gram molecule of O2 would consist of 6.022 X 1023 molecules of O2.

Hence the ratio of number of molecules in one gram molecule of O2 and one mole of O2 is 1 : 1.
