Question

sodium nitrate + sulphuric acid -----> sodium sulphate + nitric acid write formula and then balance it

Open in App
Solution

Reaction is

NaNO3 + H2SO4-----> Na2SO4 + HNO3

Balancing of the reaction:

There are 2 sodium atoms on the right side so multiply NaNO3 by 2 for getting equal number of sodium atoms.

Reaction becomes:

2 NaNO3 + H2SO4-----> Na2SO4 + HNO3

For getting equal numbers of NO3 groups on both the sides multiply HNO3 by 2.

Now the reaction will become

2 NaNO3 + H2SO4-----> Na2SO4 +2HNO3 which is the balanced equation.
