Solution

Soil is formed by water as follows:

The cracks formed due to solar heat are filled with water. If water accumulates for a longer time,it widens the gap and loosens the rocks into smaller pieces. These smaller pieces than get further broken down by the action of the blowing wind.

1Water wears of the rocks over a long period of time.

2 Small rocks in the flowing water rub against other rocks creating small particles which are carried away downstream and deposited as soil.

3 water expand on freezing . So when it is deposited on crevices of rocks it cracks the rocks into smaller pieces.
