Question

A farmer floods his field every day thinking

that watering in this manner will result a better
yield of his wheat crop. What will be the result
of this action of the farmer?

Open in App
Solution

As the farmer is applying excess water every day, it is not possible for the plants to absorb all the water applied. So the excess water will remain stored surrounding the base of the plant. Due to this, the crops will not be able to breathe properly and become weak. This water clogging may also result in growth of bacteria, fungus or other pests that easily attacks the crop plant. Excess water may also wash off nutrients from the root zone of the crop plants causing malnutrition.
