Solution

1.Polluting rivers and lakes by industrial, agriculture and solid waste discharge etc. make their water unfit for drinking and for aquatic life.Eg. Yamuna river in Delhi has been polluted to such an extreme level that its huge water resource has now become poison.
2.Though many countries (eg. Gulf countries) are situated along coastal areas with huge availability of water resource (Oceans) but they still face the scarcity of water since ocean water is qualitatively unfit for drinking and other purposes.
