Question

State why a car parked in the sunshine, with its window closed is foundmuch more hot inside than outside?

Open in App
Solution

The outer layer of a car is made of metal while the inner layer is either plastic or some other nonmetals. The metal body of the car parked in the sun heats up and this heat is transferred to the parts of the car within it. Since objects like plastic and many other nonmetals don’t lose heat easily, the inside of the car starts getting heated. The outer body of the car receives heat from the sun and transfers the heat to the inner parts. The inside parts of the car receives heat but fails to release it away. Eventually, temperature of the inside of the car rises above the temperature of the surrounding.
