Question

(1) Calculate the number of molecules of water present in 1L of water . density of water is 1gm ml-1 [Atomic mass of O=16.0u, H=1.0 u ]

Open in App
Solution

1 L of water = 1000ml of water = 1000 gms of water (density = 1g/cc)

Mol wt of water i.e. H2O = (2x1)+16 = 18

No. of moles of water = 1000/18 = 55.55 moles

No. of molecules = 55.55 moles x (6.023 x 1023) -------(avogadro's no.)

= 334.57 x 1023 molecules of water.
