Question

A solution is made by dissolving 40 g of sodium chloride in 250 g of water. Calculate the concentration of the solution in mass percentage

Open in App
Solution

Mass of solute (sodium chloride) = 40 g
Mass of solvent (water) = 250g
Mass of solution = Mass of solute + solvent = 40 + 250 = 290g

Concentration of solute in terms of mass percentage is given as,

Mass percentage of solute = Mass of soluteMass of solution×100 = 40290×100 = 13.79%
