Question

Q1=A force produces an acceleration of 16m/s2 in a body of mass 0.5 Kg,and an acceleration of 4.0 m/s2 in another body.If both the bodies are fastened together ,then how much acceleration will be produced by this force?

Solution

The force produces an acceleration, a = 16m/s2 for a body of mass, m= 0.5kg

=> F = ma

= 8N

The mass of the another body, m' = F/ 4 = 2kg

The two bodies are combined. the total mass, M = 2.5kg

=> acceleration produced by F, a' = F/M = 8/2.5= 3.2 ms-2
