Question

TSA of a solid right circular cylinder is 1540 cm2. If height is 4 times of the base then find the height of cylinder.

Let r = radius of the base of cylinder
Let h = height of the cylinder
Now, height of cylinder = 4 (radius of base of cylinder)
so, h = 4 r .....(1)
TSA = 1540 cm2
2πr( h + r) = 15402×227×r (4r + r) = 1540 (using (1)]r(5r) = 1540 × 72 × 225r2 = 35 × 7r2 = 49r = 7 cm

Now h = 4r = 4(7) = 28 cm
So, height of cylinder = 28 cm
