Question

How atmospheric pressure does effects the functioning of a syringe.

Open in App
Solution

A syringe works on the basis of atmospheric pressure. When the plunger of the syringe is pulled a low pressure is generated within the syringe and any fluid on which the needle is inserted will be sucked into the barrel of the syringe. This is because the atmospheric pressure outside the syringe pushes the fluid into the barrel as the barrel was at low pressure.
