Following are the conclusions after a talk with the two labourers:
Low Payments- Both the labour and the farmer received very meagre earnings after a day of hard work. While the construction worker received around Rs 50 a week, the farm labour received around 10-12 rupees a day.
Caught in the vicious Cycle of Indebtness- Though the payment received is in rupees it is not enough for their survival. Forced by circumstances both resort to borrowing money. Unable to pay the debt they borrow more.
Unavailability of Regular Work- The lack of a proper definition of theunorganised sector has prevented the Government to take some prominent step to organise for regular jobs for the labourers. It even keeps them away from several policies crafted by the Government.
