Question

Q. The maximum minimum magnitudes of the resultant of two forces are 17 N and 7 N respectively, If these two forces are acting at right at right angle to each other, then the value of the resultant of these forces in newton will be : ?? (Explain with solution)

Solution

The maximium of the 2 forces will be obtained when the forces are acting in the same direction
That is X + Y = 17

and the minimium of forces will be obtained when they are acting in the opposite direction
X-Y = 7

X = 12N , Y = 5 N

And when the forces are acting at right angles to each other the resultant of force will be 13N
