What advantage does soap have over detergent?

Soap, is made up of Na/K salt of fatty acids, so they are soft in nature and do not harm the fibres and fabrics of cloths and event it is safer for hands than the detergents.

Soap is also a biodegradable compound which can be disposed but detergents are not biodegradable and hence cause pollution.
