a) blue litmus solution. b)red litmus solution.

Open in App
Solution

Sodium bicarbonate or sodium hydrogencarbonate (chemical formula NaHCO3) is a mild base. We know that bases turn red litmus blue, but have no effect on blue litmus. Hence, when a solution of NaHCO3 is added to red litmus solution, the colour of litmus solution will change from red to blue. However, the colour of blue litmus solution will not change.
