Question

Why are the houses with thathed roofs cooler than the houses with concrete roofs in summer?

Open in App
Solution

The insulating effect of the thatch prevents heat getting in very quickly (cool in summer) and heat getting out very quickly (warm in winter).

Whereas, the concrete absorbs much more heat than the thatched roof and gets warm, due to which we feel hotter inside.
