Why do plants undergo asexual reproduction? Are the new plants formed through asexual reproduction similar to plants produced through sexual reproduction? Is there any advantage associated with asexual reproduction?
Plants undergo asexual reproduction as it is quick, rapid and does not involve participation of two parents and male and female reproductive gametes. The single plant can divide to produce another plant. The new plants produced by asexual reproduction are not similar to the ones produced by sexual reproduction. In asexual reproduction new plants produced are exactly similar to the parent whereas in sexual reproduction new plants produced are not exactly similar to parent. The advantage associated with asexual reproduction is that the new plants are exactly same like the parent and the mode of reproduction is quick and rapid.
