substance like kerosene and petrol burn with a flame while charcoal doesn't .why?

Solution

Only those substances which vapourise during burning produce flames. Substances like petrol, kerosene etc vapourise on burning, hence they produce flames. On the other hand, charcoal does not vapourise on burning. Hence it does not produce flames.
