Question

Take a dried raisin and keep in in a beaker containing pure water. After the raisin swells, place it in a sugar solution.

What changes will take place when the swollen raisin is kept in sugar solution ?? Will it be the same when the swollen raisin is kept in a salt solution ??

A dried raisin absorbs water and swells when placed in water by the process of endosmosis. When the swollen raisin is kept in a concentrated solution again which may be salt or sugar solution, it will loose water by exosmosis as the solution outside is hypertonic.
