The elngth of mercury thread in a thermometer rises by 12 cm when it is transferred from dry ice to steam. if the thermometert is to be calibrated in degree C, find teh length of one degree on the thermometer.

Temperature of dry ice = 0 deg

Temperature of steam 100 deg

it rises by 12 cms so ,we can make out that for a change in 100deg ========= it is 12 cms

so for a change of 1 deg ==================== 12/100 cm /deg

=== 0. 12 cm / deg
