Farmer can inoculate the soil with free living nitrogen bacteria such as Azotobacter. This bacteria performs nitrogen fixation and increase the yield of crop such as Maize.
The yield is low because the farmer is planting the same crop everytime. The farmer should apply the technique of crop rotation. Maize crop should be grown with leguminous crop such as soyabean.
