then his age 5 years before be( x - 5) yrs

and his age nine years later be (x + 9) yrs

According to the given condition,

(x - 5)(x + 9) = 15

⇒ x² - 5x + 9x - 45 = 15

⇒ x² + 4x =15 + 45

⇒ x² + 4x = 60

⇒ x² + 4x - 60 = 0

⇒ x² + 10x - 6x - 60 = 0

⇒ x ( x + 10 ) - 6(x + 10) = 0

⇒ (x - 6) (x + 10) = 0

⇒ x = 6 or x = -10 (rejected)

so present age of Ram = 6 yrs.
