Kala-azar is a disease of the internal organs (liver, spleen, lymph nodes, bone marrow) which is caused by the infection of a protozoan parasite Leishmania donovani. It can cause fever, fatigue, enlargement of liver, bone marrow suppresion etc. It can also cause increase the chances of secondary infection.
