Solution

The distance of school from boy's home is 1 km, therefore the distance covered by the boy when he reaches school is,
s=1 km
and the displacement of the boy is,
disp=1 km

But, if the boy return back to the home from the school then the distance covered by the boy is,
s=2 km
And as the boy reaches back to its original position therefore the displacement made by him is,
disp=0 km
