The sky is blue due to the fact that is scatters the component of light which have shorter wavelength such as blue. However violet and indigo have even shorter wavelengths than hat of blue Then why is the sky either violet or indigo in color?

Good question!
The sky is not pure "blue" in color as per your question. The light from the violet, indigo, blue end of the spectrum is diffracted more which gives the sky it's blue appearance.
