Solution

Let the number of families who donated Rs 100 = xLet the number of families who donated Rs 50 = yNow, total donation = Rs 44,450So, 100 x + 50 y = 44450The above is the required linear equation.Now, it is given that , number of families who donated Rs 50 is 111.Put y = 111 in the above equation, we get 100 x + 50 × 111 = 44450100x + 5550 = 44450100x = 38900x = 389So, the number of families who donated Rs 100 = 389
