Though thermodynamically feasible, why is it uneconomical to use Magnesium metal for the reduction of alumina?

Although the Mg can be used for the reduction of Al2O3 as per Ellingham diagram, but Mg is much costlier than Al hence it would not be economical to reduce Al2O3 using Mg. The cost of the production would be higher than the cost of the Al obtained during the process.
