two buldings are 3.3km apart .gun is fired from 1 bulding .the time difference between seeing the flash and its sound is 10sec find the speed of sound in air.

Time taken by the light to travel from one building to other building is,

Speed = Distance / Time

Speed of light = 3 x 108 m/s

Time = Distance / Time = 3300 m / 3 x 108 m/s = 11 x 10 -6 sec

Time taken by the sound to travel from one building to other building is equal to,

= 11 x 10 -6 sec + 10 sec = 0.000011 + 10 = 10.000011 sec

Speed of sound = Distance / time = 3300 m / 10.000011 sec = 329.9 m/s
