Question

two resistors 4 ohm and 6 ohm are connected in parallel.the combination is connected across a 6V of negligible resistance.calculate the a)the current through the battery

b)the current through each resistor?

Open in App
Solution

Given that:

R1=4ohm,R2=6ohm

For parallel combination,

1/R=1/R1 +1/R2

=1/4 +1/6

R=12/5=2.4 ohm

a)the current through the battery

I=V/R=6/2.4=2.5 A

b) Current through 4 ohm resistor

I=6/4=1.5A

Current through 6 ohm resistor

I=6/6=1A
