The Revolutionary government came into being in 1789-91 with National Assembly which gave France its new constitution limiting the powers of the monarchy and the Church. Later in 1792, as led by Jacobin club because of its demands and activities this revolutionary government set out to elect the national convention to look after the affairs of the country as per the rules of the Constitution of 1791. It thus provided for the abolition of monarchy and declaring France to be a Republic.
The Jacobin government was also known as revolutionary government.
