Open in App
Solution

A Galvanometer detects the presence of electric current in a given circuit.

It is connected in series with a circuit. When no current is flowing through a Galvanometer its pointer is at zero mark and when current passes through the Galvanometer then the pointer needle deflects either to left or to the right of the zero mark depending on the direction of current.
